Welcome to the 300 blog.

If you’re here, you probably know what 300 is – a campaign of men from high school and college in Metro Detroit and Orlando looking to spread the gospel to 140,000 peers in those communities. (If you don’t, you can read more about it here.)

This blog is designed to equip, educate, and inspire you to be able to share your faith with those around you in creative ways. Stay tuned on what we’re doing here – you’ll find it very helpful in learning what it means to share faith, and why we need to be confident in this pursuit.

Also, follow us on twitter at @menof300.

Who’s job is it to evangelize – our’s or God’s?

from Erin Andersen, Troy Campus Director 2009-2010

How can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can the believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they heard about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is what the scriptures mean when they say, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

- Romans 10:14-15Romans 10:14-15
English: World English Bible - WEB

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? 15 And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Sometimes in evangelism we try to assume the Holy Spirit’s role, but the much greater problem is our hoping the Holy Spirit will do our job for us. Read More »

Don’t be a hypocrite with your outrageous nonsense.

From Amanda Kozlowski, Lake Orion campus director

From James 2:14-17James 2:14-17
English: World English Bible - WEB

14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? 15 And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food, 16 and one of you tells them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled;” and yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it? 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.

(The Message Version)

14-17 Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?

What is the gospel? It might not be what you think it is. (A special Christmas post.)

Watch the video, and then read this blog post from Dave Kubiak, our Clinton Township Director and resident theologian.

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures . . .” -1 Corinthians 15:11 Corinthians 15:1
English: World English Bible - WEB

A fearless follower breaks up cliques

from Cameron Underdown, Rochester Hills High School Director

I love reading about King Hezekiah. This man had the heart of God, which is to break up cliques and make sure everyone is invited to follow God. This story is an inspiration to gospel messengers everywhere. Check this out from 2 Chronicles 30:6-122 Chronicles 30:6-12
English: World English Bible - WEB

6 So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, You children of Israel, turn again to Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may return to the remnant that have escaped of you out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. 7 Don’t be you like your fathers, and like your brothers, who trespassed against Yahweh, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see. 8 Now don’t you be stiff-necked, as your fathers were; but yield yourselves to Yahweh, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve Yahweh your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you. 9 For if you turn again to Yahweh, your brothers and your children shall find compassion before those who led them captive, and shall come again into this land: for Yahweh your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him. 10 So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun: but they ridiculed them, and mocked them. 11 Nevertheless certain men of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem. 12 Also on Judah came the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the word of Yahweh.

Procrastination and sharing your faith

From Dave Kubiak, Clinton Township Director

I’m a procrastinator. There’s a sense of urgency, a drive that comes along with waiting until the last minute. Why? There’s no other option. It’s now or never. If it doesn’t get done now… it will be too late. It never will.

Be Bold

Be bold. Isaiah 43:1-3Isaiah 43:1-3
English: World English Bible - WEB

43 1 But now thus says Yahweh who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel: Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name, you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle on you. 3 For I am Yahweh your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

the One who got you started, Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God. Read More »

Making an ACTive transition in your faith

In Scripture, there are several points where people had to make a decision to do something they never thought possible. That is the essence of our faith – to do what we believe to be impossible, but what God surely can make possible.

One example to challenge yourself with and share with friends in this movement is the Acts 2 to Acts 3 transition. Here’s what you need to do: Read More »

We love (and share the gospel) because God first loved us

Missionary zeal does not grow out of intellectual beliefs, nor out of theological arguments, but out of love. — Roland Allen

Let us be reminded today that we share the grace of Christ because of who he has done in us and more importantly because we are responding to the Love in which we have been gifted. Today be reminded that its because you are loved in a way that is undeserved but have been gifted that you share that same love. Today be reminded that it is not just a good idea it’s a response to the gift that you have been gifted. Today be reminded that because you have received this gift, the only true way to live with gratitude is to share it. Read More »
