3-27 Edge Recap – Videos, Celebration and Vision!!

Last night at edge we had 2 great videos of what has happened within the community and some of the stories that were being shared as well as a powerful message for our community.

Celebration Video

stories from the HS community

CELEBRATION OF STORIES from Edge Quarterlife on Vimeo.

It was all about how once a group of people have understood the sacrifice that Christ has made by giving everything up, we then begin to see a church that moves in such a way that cannot be stopped.

Sometimes in that process though, we get caught up with the world and temptations that surround us on a regular basis. Last night was the reminder that we as a community need to continue to fight for to be what the CHURCH should look like.

A Recap on Sunday night – “MOST”

If you understood or have been faced with sacrifice… how much would it cost you? How might it change your view?

Last Night at Edge for part of the service we showed the short film “MOST” which actually means, “bridge” in Czech. (here’s the trailer if you didn’t get to see it)

It is one of the best portrayals of sacrifice that changed the trajectory (unbeknownst to many of the characters) in such a significant that it demands a reaction!

The concept of the story was that a Father who worked at a bridge had to make a decision, that being a recently new father only invokes an unshakable perspective, to have to sacrifice his one and only son so that the people traveling towards ultimate peril can having the opportunity for reconciliation and relationships in their lives ahead.

There are two stories that challenged me as I watched it for the second time.

What was the last thing you sacrificed?

This sunday we are in our 5th week of our Series Unheard of. I wanted to get the conversation started a little early as you are inviting friends and your community to be a part of this. I think this night is going to unique in the images, videos and stories that will be communicated. And with that all said i think that it will move all people to consider what love truly looks like. So lets start the conversation.

What was the last thing that you sacrificed? What was something that truly had value to you that CHOSE to give up (willingly)?

Recap: Unheard Of, Rescue Mission, and what’s next for you

Rescue mission was our topic this past Sunday. Chris Zarbaugh taught about God’s rescue mission for us, and how he redeems us through a prisoner of war exchange – he takes us from the grasp of sin by exchanging us for Jesus’ sacrifice. Hard to understand why God wants you so much he gives his son for you? Check out the video and podcast to get a better sense of why God wants you, and why he’s willing to give up everything for you to know that he knows you. Read More »

A Night of Hope – edge sunday night – March 6th

Sunday night at Edge is going to be a night of hope for our community. Several communities in metro detroit have lately had to face the issue of teen suicide and depression. In response to recent suicides in Rochester and Birmingham, and to the lingering affects of suicides in the Lake Orion area we will be providing a hope-filled message to students and families Sunday night.

Unheard Of Action Steps – what you need to know and do!

This week we launched our new campaign for the next 6 weeks.
It’s 6 weeks that will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. I am not saying that lightheartedly either. I believe if you choose to fully engage, fully invest and let yourself be challenged you entire OUTLOOK for what it means to follow Jesus will look and be different. Be willing to risk your comfort, the norms and especially the mundane Christian living to be activated in your faith.

Mark 1:15Mark 1:15
English: World English Bible - WEB

15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Gospel.”

WP-Bible plugin
“The time has come,” Jesus said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Here are the few items that you need to know.

Check out 50daysofnew.com
This is our blog for all that is going on around Detroit over the next 50 days. Totally out of the box events that are great to invite a friend to be part of.
1. Go onto the website and see whats happening
2. Invite a group of friends to join. REMEMBER 50 days of new isn’t for you to win or get everything, its meant to give YOU the opportunity to share it with others!

Unheardof.org – ONE CAMPAIGN
Sign up here to be part of the movement as a whole.
We have “One Campaign’s” going on multiple campuses.
They are challenging themselves to take 1 opportunity a day to live in response to the gospel!
1 act of unconditional/unexpected act of love for someone
1 conversation about faith
1 invitation to Edge or 50 days of new event

It’s time that we, as the Church, stop talking about how we love God and start engaging with others in the conversation. Its time that we stop waiting for others to approach us and start being open-handed in the way we live. Its time that we stop talking theologies and philosophies in our Christian circles and start dialoguing about Love and Grace where people actually need it, because that’s what reminds us that we STILL need it.

MACBOOK CONFESSIONALS on the facebook.com/50daysofnew (will be up next week)
It’s time to tell your story. Why do you believe in the person of Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life for you? How has He changed your life? What makes what He DID so special compared to what we are always trying to do?
Share your story via a personal video. You can do that at Edge on a Sunday night on one of our laptops or at home. But submit a video on the wall of the facebook page for “50daysofnew” and we will post it. Then Send it out to all your friends, share it with those who you may not have ever dialogued about Jesus with. Be honest, authentic and willing to dialogue.

Heres the summary:
1. Record a video of your story
2. Post on the facebook.com/50daysofnew
3. Share it to the masses. Ask you friends to watch it with you. Share your story with the ones you love.

Through these next 6 weeks not only do we have the chance to change our own walk with God but also to impact the people around us! You are the way that it is possible. We, as a team, believe you can move your community forward by actively sharing what God has done in your lives as well as giving them a glimpse into the radical, counter-cultural type of grace and love that Christ offers everyone wherever they are at!
