April 16 & 17 – Celebrating Rochester Hills, partying with Lake Orion, and uniting as Orion Campus

April 16, 2011
6:00 pmto9:00 pm
April 17, 2011
2:00 pmto5:30 pm

Celebrate as we come together as Edge at Orion campus, April 16-17.

The last service at Adams High School is April 17. No goodbye or hello is truly done without a gathering – we see that often in Scripture, from entering the promised land to the dedication of the Temple to the last supper. So as we say goodbye to Adams High School, and hello to Lake Orion, we are going to have two huge parties to celebrate. Details on where and what will be coming, but mark your calendars for Saturday, April 16, and Sunday, April 17. We will have one party (April 16) to celebrate what God has done at our campus with Rochester students, and the next we will party at Lake Orion (April 17) to get the new partnership and friendships started with a bang. Be home that weekend – you won’t want to miss it.

STUDENTS: Give Lake Orion a try – before the merge!

Students: don’t wait to see what a day in the life at Lake Orion looks like – try going there this Sunday! All high school students go to the 11 am service, and sit in the balcony together. Make some new friends and get used to the culture and environment there – we will need people who know Lake Orion to help introduce Rochester Hills people making the switch to Lake Orion after Easter, and we want to develop a team to help with that. So go, learn, and let me know what happened so we can start getting our team together.

What is the line of faith we must cross? Understanding that God knows you, not the other way around

We all know this face. We know the story of Jesus, at least the basics. But how do we know that God knows who we are?

I thought this was a fitting post with so many faith decisions being made with campuses, Unheard Of, etc. Here goes: understanding the line of faith. Why do some people stay with God forever, some never go to him, and others jump back and forth between two conflicting ideas? Read More »

Recap: Unheard Of, Rescue Mission, and what’s next for you

Rescue mission was our topic this past Sunday. Chris Zarbaugh taught about God’s rescue mission for us, and how he redeems us through a prisoner of war exchange – he takes us from the grasp of sin by exchanging us for Jesus’ sacrifice. Hard to understand why God wants you so much he gives his son for you? Check out the video and podcast to get a better sense of why God wants you, and why he’s willing to give up everything for you to know that he knows you. Read More »

Lost and Found: the story of the poem

Lost And Found from Kensington on Vimeo.

If you were at Kensington’s Sunday services on March 13, you might have seen me up on the video screen with a poem called Lost and Found. First of all, if you didn’t know, I write poetry. It was something I learned and studied in college at Oakland University, and love performing as well.

This poem in particular was born out of a request, then a discussion, then a quick scribbling of some ideas. Read More »
